Sneak Peek: Atletico Madrid Home Kit 2021/22

Our sources have shared an interesting look into some of next season’s football kits. This here seems to be the final design of the Atletico Madrid home kit for the 2021/22 season.

Featuring an almost purely red and white striped aesthetic with the blue featuring on the club badge, Nike seems to have gone for a more rugged and raw design for Atletico Madrid next season.

Each stripe is bolder than what we’ve seen in past iterations but what’s most eye-catching has been the “worn paint on wood” look that is sported on the white stripes.

I’m not sure if I’m digging this look but it does give the Atletico Madrid home kit a very gritty feel to accompany the team’s abrasive style of football. If there ever was a design that personified the team’s play style, this is definitely it.

Sneak Peek: Puma Future Z Neymar

All photos credit to FootyHeadlines

The Puma Future Z has left a good impression on us since it released. It isn’t the biggest game-changer but is a solid choice for players who love a boot with good lockdown. Design-wise, we do think that Puma is trying to be a little different and the Future line has helped the brand stand out. With the upcoming launch of the exclusive Puma Future Z Neymar colourways, the “Creativity” pack, we think it’ll help them stand out more.

Quite often, brands go a little too safe with their designs but with Neymar under the wing, you can see Puma really going all in with their aesthetics when promoting alongside one of their biggest sponsored players in recent years.

Much of this Neymar exclusive design uses a blue, pink and black combination to express creativity as waves of the colour crash into one another. The blue dominates the forefoot while the pink dominates most of the midfoot areas. The black accents and the black Puma cat logo stand out nicely from the colour clash you see across the boot.

The bright white “FUTURE” logo sticks out on the instep too, giving the boot a cyberpunk look with the colour clash.

One standout feature is that Z-shaped soleplate. In this exclusive colourway, Puma gives it a clear and see through look so that you can view the design of the underside of the boot. We absolutely love this and wish brands do this more often than having a wearable finish that gets scrapped and scarred from extensive play. We first saw this approach on the Puma Future Manchester “City Pack” which featured a bee motif on the underside of the boot with a transparent soleplate sealing it away from contact.

More of the same please, Puma.

Sneak Peek: Mizuno Morelia UL Japan

Mizuno recently celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Morelia series and the boot has since gone through a myriad of updates through the years. However, the one thing that was missing from the Morelia line was a limited edition colourway.

The 30th anniversary year gave us the Japan Blue colourway which was first worn by Hiroki Morishima at the 2002 World Cup in Japan/Korea. That year also saw the release of a super limited gold Morelia which only produced 30 pairs worldwide – a highly sought after boot. It now seems that finally, Mizuno will give us want everyone wants – the return of a gold Mizuno Morelia UL made in Japan.

The Mizuno Morelia UL was a model that Mizuno had made for years – an UltraLight model of the comfortable and plush Mizuno Morelia series. Today, the Morelia models are lighter but the weightier, original model is still somewhat popular in Japan. Bringing this Mizuno Morelia UL back, and in a limited gold colour, will excite a lot of people, us included.

Expect interesting changes in this new Mizuno Morelia UL Japan. Rumour has it that the boot will not be 100% kangaroo leather. The forefoot still carry the excellent kangaroo leather Mizuno is known for using but the midfoot will be the synthetic BareFoot leather that we now see in the Mizuno Morelia Neo 3. This will help the boot’s mid-foot from overstretching though given how soft this synthetic BareFoot leather feels, expect the Mizuno Morelia UL to still feel like a premium product.

Another big change is its availability. Expect more units to be sold this time around which is great for collectors. Since the gold colourway has only be released once before, this is a must have for those who missed out on the last exclusive sale of this boot.

Sneak Peek: Puma Ultra “Spectra” colourway

All Photos Credit: FootyHeadlines

Puma has been making big leaps forwards in the footballing department in the last couple of years. A part of this has been the excellent Puma Ultra. It has become the current “people’s speed boot” because of its welcoming fit and it has also come in a variety of cool colourways. With the upcoming “Spectra” colourway, Puma looks to continue the trend of launching eye-catching design that will surely be enjoyed by their fans.

Puma Spectra Ultra

With this Puma Ultra Spectra, the Big Cat has given the boot a mostly white base interspersed with nice multi-colour knit – helping the boot stand out on the pitch. Another feature that helps the Spectra pack’s good looks is the chrome finish on the forefoot of the soleplate. However, I think it’s a shame that the finish doesn’t extend to the heel region but it’s still a good looking soleplate nonetheless.

Puma Ultra Spectra

The only drawback with that soleplate is that it looks like it’s a wearable finish which means the glossy finish will peel and wear off after extended usage on the football pitch. Outside of this, the colours combine well for a good look. The deep red logos and wording pop beautifully against the white base and coloured knit – a great choice by Puma.

Puma Ultra Spectra

I think Puma made a smart decision by not spamming the knit with too many colours and the Puma Ultra’s current construction with how the threads are spread out does give the effect a nice balance while still enabling the white base to shine.

Hopefully, the Puma Ultra in the Spectra colourway will get a lot of on pitch support. The boot will probably look excellent in blurred photos and great on feet.

Sneak Peek: Mercurial Vapor Safari

Nike is bringing back a fan favourite

All Photos credit to OFOBall

Since 2008, Nike have always had boot fans seeking out any Safari colourways the brand drops. This year, Nike will look to sate some of that demand. This new Mercurial Vapor Safari looks like it’s bringing back the loved design. But it also appears that the Swoosh will tweak the formula slightly.

Mercurial Vapor Safari

Along with the usual safari pattern, Nike is adding some volt accents. This might be cause for some to skip, but it’s good to see Nike freshen up the safari design. Moving away from the original orange colourway gives it a more modern look, in our opinion.

Another small addition is the few silver accents. These match with volt accents and help give the Mercurial Vapor Safari some pop. It will allow the boots to stand out. Of course, it’s a Vapor, so it will be popular but these accents will definitely help raise demand for the boot. This might just be one of those colours that you end up seeing replicated everywhere.

Mercurial Vapor Safari

Even though so far we only have the Pro models featured here, expect the Elite models to look that much better. We do wonder whether this boot will just be for Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s hard to see Nike having a lot of players representing this design as it’s so tied to CR7 though we won’t be surprised to see Kylian Mbappe being the face of the Mercurial Vapor Safari as well.

Mercurial Vapor Safari

Strangely, these leaks of the Mercurial Vapor Safari doesn’t include CR7’s logo. With Nike cutting costs, don’t be surprised if CR7 isn’t fronting the brand as much as he used to.

We already know a Dream Speed colourway is coming, to be worn by most of their marquee Mercurial players. Though we don’t have any dates yet, it would be a stretch to think that Nike would launch this so close to the Dream Speed collection.

First Impression: Copa Mundial 21

Adidas has been causing some issues with the amount of remakes they have been releasing. We have seen a lot of drops in the past couple of months. The Three Stripes already released an updated Copa Mundial Remake with the Copa.1 soleplate back in December. It was not as a big of a deal as the Predator Absolute remake launched alongside it, but the Copa Mundial Remake was still popular.

With this release we see the return of a modern soleplate. This time, the latest remake, dubbed the Copa Mundial 21, will have the same soleplate as the new Copa Sense. The soleplate stands out from previous releases and looks more aggressive than other soleplates in this category, with a wearable finish. The reflective surface look is great and helps highlight this area of the boot.

Copa Mundial Remake

The upper is the same but in an all-black ensemble this time. There are some subtle spots of a dark grey as well. We find this in the Three Stripes logo, as well as the heel. The “Copa Mundial” branding also has this shade of grey. It all adds nicely to the overall look of the Copa Mundial 21.

Copa Mundial Remake

The rest of the boot seems pretty standard, like you would expect from a Copa. The one area that seems to have been changed is the internal heel.

This part of the boot was also changed in the previous Copa Mundial Remake. A classic Copa normally does not have much padding in the heel area but the remakes are different. It looks like there is more cushion and padding in this part of the boot. The sizing is similar to the classic Copa Mundial. We found it best to go at least a size down.
