Jordan Brand x PSG

We explore the hottest collaboration of 2018.

PSG is making no bones about expanding their brand across the world. It was only in August when we met Fabien Allègre, PSG Merchandising Director who talked about merging lifestyle, fashion and football as a means to be the biggest club in the world. The Parisian club, already with ties to Nike due to a jersey sponsorship, now has set their eyes on the sneaker and street fashion market with a collaboration with the Jordan Brand.

PSG’s marquee players are Nike endorsed athletes too with the likes of Neymar, Mbappe and Cavani a potent commercial force.

This move makes perfect sense for a club that is maximizing their commercial appeal to gain traction in the lucrative street wear category and appeal to a bigger audience. It’s no surprise that they’re got some of the biggest street personalities on their side too. “In the United States, if you hear Jordan you probably think it’s a basketball or hip-hop event. No, in Paris right away ‘it’s Jordan’ — it’s not just for basketball players or the hip-hop community,” says Laurent Nicolas Bourgeois, one half of the acclaimed dance group, Les Twins, along with twin brother Larry Nicolas. “We are one of the biggest fans of Jordan in the world. We are super fans.”

The collection is primarily clad in black with red and white accents – a colour scheme that is not uncommon in the history of Jordan apparel. The footwear remains the highlight of the collection with the Nike PhantomVSN and Mercurial Vapor getting an ultra sleek black skin with white dots populating the upper. Deep red soleplates and the iconic “Jumpman” logo add a finish to the boots that would delight fans of football boots and the Jordan Brand worldwide.

What is the Jordan Brand without sneakers? The collection features a new take to the Nike Air Jordan V in the same black and white colours. Nike added a nice touch in tribute to the Parisian area code of “75”, clearly visible on the side of the shoe.

Jersey collectors rejoice as the set also comes with 2 football kits and a basketball jersey that would be equally at home on the streets, on the pitch or on the court. Swipe through the galleries below to view the entire collection.
