The big cat collaborates with BALR. on an all black set.
BALR. has always been a brand that touts itself as a high end athleisure/streetwear brand – to be worn by the most swaggalicious footballers like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. So it has come as little surprise that they’ve tried to break in to the football apparel scene with a really sweet collaboration with Puma.
The Puma x BALR. collection features Puma golden boy, Antoine Griezmann, as the face of this partnership. The set consists of sports and casual wear for on and off pitch swag. The highlight of the entire collection is the BALR. Future boot that was worn by Griezmann against Eibar on 19th October 2019. It looks almost exactly like the Future from the blackout “Eclipse Pack” with the dark chrome finish on the soleplate and the overall black upper. It seems that Puma may have just stuck on the BALR. logo on the laces, evoKnit sock and the back of the heel to highlight the brand partnership. A similar vibe is attached to the Puma x BALR. Orbiter sneaker as part of the casual wear line.
Accompanying the Future is the match shirt that features the increasingly popular (and amazing) collar style that has been seen on some 90s inspired third kits this season. My favourite piece from the Puma x BALR. collection has to be the hoody which brings the BALR. minimalist aesthetic to life.
Personally, I don’t think the designs are that radical or cool enough for me to want to cop any of the items from the set. They’re not bad but just not eye-catching enough to entice me to pay a pretty penny of the black and white aesthetic. This very much seems aimed at expanding the BALR. brand and is definitely a must have for fans of the Dutch lifestyle brand.
It’s a decent start though and I’m definitely keen to see more collaborations between Puma and BALR. The Puma x BALR. collection can be bought in Singapore exclusively at Weston Corp.
