Is this one kit too many?
After last season’s Jordan Brand collection and this season’s amazing infrared away kit, we are treated to another collection between Nike’s popular franchise and the French champions.
Not content with three kits developed for the season, they have partnered up for another jersey launch, this time in the middle of a hectic season. While previous collections had their designs based off popular Jordan sneakers, PSG and Nike have done without the inspirations of Jordan Brand and just decided to plaster on the iconic logo on a simple jersey.
Simply put, it’s just a black jersey with the French tri-colour flag strip down the middle. This collaboration also includes a slew of other lifestyle merchandise including tracksuits, football training jerseys, a basketball jersey and three footwear drops. Nike claims that “all celebrate Paris and its passion for football and basketball.”
But let’s be honest here. Did we need another collection this year and another fourth kit? Having three kits to rotate through the season is a lot but four seems quite excessive – not forgetting that each set comes with a matching training and “stadium” kit as well.
You can’t go wrong with a black colourway (those hoodies and tracksuits look tasty) but it seems not much effort has gone into the designs in a bid to get the Jordan logo onto the jersey and get it sold immediately. I would have liked Nike to have taken a bit more time to have another design based off one of the Jordan sneakers and at least make it worth our while.
PSG will wear the new kit for the first time against Montpellier 1 February 2020. That said, if any of the items from this collection rocks your boat, you can get them at Prodirect Soccer at this link or at Nike.com.
