Celebrating 70 years of adidas innovation
To commemorate adidas’ 70th anniversary, the German sportswear maker today revealed the COPA70 – a modern interpretation of the iconic Copa Mundial.
We’re loving the old school silhouette coupled with the Primeknit upper that has been a staple of adidas in recent years. Leather is still used as part of the boot’s lining to connect it with its illustrious past. The soleplate also makes a big leap to the present as it adopts the current FG/AG version that is used in the COPA 19.1.
To round it all off, the old school blue logo makes an appearance on the tongue to take us back to simpler days.
We’re just glad that adidas kept the innovations simple without pushing too many gimmicks like their laceless design and the uber thin BOOST insole – all of which would have been a slap in the face of the timeless classic.
For the Hypebeasts among us, the three stripes has got you covered with a pair of trainers that pays homage to the classic in understated style. We can’t decide which one we love more, the boots or the trainers, but we will definitely try to get our hands on a pair.
The adidas COPA70 is available now at Weston Singapore (Queensway and Vivocity). The boots are priced at SG$349 while the trainers go for SG$219.
