Boot Spotting: Real Madrid Legends vs Arsenal Legends

Classics on the ball and on feet.

The charity match was a spectacle of attacking football featuring the legends of the game such as Raul, Clarence Seedorf, Robert Pires and…. Pascal Cygan. The Real Madrid Legends team dominated the game for large periods of time in various boots from past and present. The Arsenal Legends team rocked out mostly new Pumas, possibly a convenient solution provided by the Arsenal kit provider.

Wing Wizards – Luis Figo and Robert Pires

Luis Figo was tormenting the likes of Nigel Winterburn down his favourite right wing. The face of Nike’s Total 90 boots back in the day, Figo opted for modern pair that would provide the same lightweight feel through the 90 minutes in Nike Fast AF Tiempo Legend 7. Pires kept things ticking in the Arsenal midfield in the Puma Future 18.1 from the Frenzy pack.

Anders Limpar v Clarence Seedorf

A flair player in his day, Limpar decided to take it down a notch now that he’s 52. He sported a classic Puma King Top di, a top performing boot ’til today. Seedorf dominated the midfield in some lovely Adidas 11pros in red – dribbling and passing by the Arsenal with ease. The Real Madrid legend looked like he never retired.

Double Agent – Julio Baptista

Baptista was one of the rare individuals who have played for both teams as he played on both sides. He copped himself the latest Nike Hypervenom Phantom DF from the Just Do It pack. Seems like someone hoping for a call up to the Brazil side. More on the Hypervenom here.

X-Factor – Anelka and Arbeloa

Another group of players to have copped the latest boots – the French striker looked to run behind the ageing Madrid defence while Arbeloa was bombing up and down the right flank for his team. Both of them looked like they could still play professional football in the Adidas X18+. More about the speed boot here.

Past and Future

Xabi Alonso and Robert Pires
Midfield masters

Dependable, solid, simple and a timeless classic. It was a perfect marriage between Xabi Alonso and the Copa Mundials as they sprayed passed across the Bernabeu pitch. A throwback to simpler days against the boots of the (Puma) Future.

Predator on the Prowl

Fernando Morientes
Predator Adipower for Morientes

Fernando Morientes had some good touches on the ball but couldn’t find the net. What he found instead was a classic Predator Adipower before it went to the dark side with the LZ features.

Power and Passion

Luis Boa Morte of Arsenal
Evopower Vigor on Luis Boa Morte

Boa Morte was a passionate figure on the pitch, gesticulating with the referee on decisions that didn’t go his way. The Arsenal Legend showed some excellent close control on the ball with some lung bursting runs behind the defence in his Puma Evopower Vigor.
